Today, the proposal to form the Shyft Network DAO officially moved through the Shyft Network Forum to Snapshot, where voting will occur for the next five days. In this article, you will find more information on how to get involved in the DAO as additional programs roll out in the coming weeks

How to Join the Shyft Network DAO

1. Buy Some $SHFT

The first step towards joining the Shyft Network DAO is to buy some SHFT! To join the DAO, you will need at least one SHFT token. To purchase SHFT, you will need to purchase on an exchange like Kucoin, where the token was listed in January of 2021, or head to a DEX like Uniswap or SushiSwap to exchange other crypto or fiat currencies for SHFT.

2. Submit, discuss, and vote on Proposals

Ok, you now own some SHFT! Congratulations — you will now be eligible to submit votes on Snapshot, which will originate as a topic on the Shyft Network Forum, the primary place where discussions will take place.

To join the forum, you simply need to log in through your Discord account. For step-by-step instructions on how to vote on proposals, please reference the “Introducing the Shyft Network DAO’’ blog post (Snapshot criteria is listed below). You will be able to vote with SHFT on both Layer 1 and the Ethereum blockchain.

To create a proposal, here is what you need to know.

• Start a discussion on Discord, or General Forum prior to posting a proposal.
• Include a SIP (Shyft Improvement Proposal) number in the post title.
• Be ready to engage with the community e.g., by answering their replies, addressing any concerns.

Criteria for a Snapshot Vote

• The proposal should be live for at least one day.
• The proposal should receive at least five posts from different members to ensure sufficient engagement.
• The author should indicate clearly when the Snapshot vote shall commence (see the Template section below).
• The Snapshot vote should be named the same as the proposal.
• The Snapshot vote should be using single choice voting.
• The Snapshot vote should include a link back to the original proposal on this forum.

A simple description of the proposal’s end result and desired change; it should be no more than a few succinct sentences.

Motivation
Explain why this proposal is necessary or useful for the protocol. The author is encouraged to add visual elements such as charts to support their arguments.

Proposal
Lay out your proposal — explain how it is going to tackle the issue at hand and present the action items.

FeedbackPeriod
The feedback process begins now and is expected to end at HH:MM UTC on DD/MM/YYYY.

After this, a Snapshot vote is expected to be put up at HH:MM UTC on DD/MM/YYYY if there is sufficient interest and support for the proposal from the community.

Action

3. Join a DAO Committee, Become an Ambassador, or a Community Key Signer

Two actively participate in the DAO-decision making process, you have three options:

• Join the forthcoming Shyft Network DAO Ambassador Program.

The DAO Ambassador Program will consist of the three primary tracks below; stay tuned for more info as these programs are further developed.

• Community Leaders & Influencers.
• Marketing & Content Creators.
• Research & Academia.

3. Apply to become one of the three Shyft Network DAO Community Key Signers

Following the official formation of Shyft Network DAO, there will be a proposal to invite the Shyft community to nominate and elect three community members to join a group of seven key signers. Elected community members will be given authority whereby five out of seven signers would be required to participate in the execution of transactions associated with the Shyft DAO treasury for a period of three months.

In the coming days, the Shyft DAO will call on Shyft Network community members to apply for one of the three available key signer positions and formally launch their candidacy.

Interested candidates will be required to share on Discord why they would best represent the community and help the DAO accomplish its goals. The DAO urges all community members to be proactive and to suggest candidates they believe are active, engaged, and represent the community best.
